The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), also known locally as "The 'G",is an Australian sports stadium located in Yarra Park, Melbourne, Victoria. Founded and managed by the Melbourne Cricket Club, it is the largest stadium in the Southern Hemisphere. The first scoreboard at the MCG was built in 1882. Since then, it has taken many forms and is currently the best and the largest scoreboard available in Australia - state-of-the-art LED-high-definition screen which is 25.24 metres wide and 13.17 metres high. The current facility enables one to see both, batting and bowling cards on one screen. Also, it was at the MCG that Australia's first full colour video scoreboard was put in place. The world's first all-colour cricket scoreboard with instant replays was installed at the MCG.

The 22-yards at the MCG is considered to be one of the most competitive surfaces in the world. It offers a fine balance between bat and ball. While the bowlers get some assistance early on with mostly genuine bounce, as it gets old, the batsmen can play their strokes freely.
